the other day i saw the first 30 seconds and last 10 seconds of the film and was totally blown away. its so strange to see this coming to life. as exciting as that was, the fundraising aspect of this has been disappointing and exhausting. i truly thought that once people saw the site, found out more about what LifeTies was doing and got familiar with this project, the funds would just start coming in. that couldn't be farther from the truth! so i am now begging anyone and everyone for any support they can give us. we need it.

i wasn’t naïve in thinking that these situations didn’t exist, but it’s easy to choose to not see them when you aren’t personally there. these children allowed me to put a face, a name, a life to these problems within our community. i was so impressed with how candidly they spoke of their circumstances and troubles. they were able to paint a clear picture of what they’ve dealt with and in most cases, how they’ve overcome adversity or wish to do so. i walked away from all of the shoots feeling what i heard many of the staff of LifeTies speak of – hope. hopeful that this film will allow everyone to see that this isn’t just a “situation,” but that these are young and promising lives.

when i decided to take on this incredibly challenging task of shooting this documentary, i knew i was in for a long and unpredictable journey into a world that i had very little experience with. what i didn't expect was how emotionally invested i would become in each of the stories that i have come to know. when you are sitting just 20 feet from a person who has lived a million lifetimes in half the time of your own, you realize not only how fortunate you have been to have all that you do, but you also realize how very infrequently you acknowledge this fact. i have seen levels of strength and wisdom in children as young as 14 that i have never seen in over 10 years of business. although we are not even half way to completion, i already feel we've created something so powerful and i only pray that this message we are capturing spreads as far as possible. because it is real and it is important and we all need to start listening.
Homeless children are 3x more likely than other children to have emotional or behavioral problems.

Children as young as 7 years old are often recruited to gangs.

Approximately 30% of woman infected with HIV/AIDS are not tested prior to giving birth.

Children who age out of Foster Care are far more likely to end up homeless, in prison or addicted to drugs.
